WHEN THE PHONE RINGS...is a process of re-examining the structure of audio-plays-for-an-audience-of-one that Supers created as part of our Calvino investigation in 2020. I am excited to look at the creation of intimacy through personally selected material, and ask the question of how this can be adapted for an audience in a theater. I'm especially interested in investigating how to create specific personal exchange within an audience of many.

I plan to build my schedule around phone calls and interviews, ESPECIALLY with people who have a strong relationship to telephones (rather than cellphones, zoom, etc.). I'm curious about the difference between a working and/or nostalgic relationship to telephone communication.
